MEDICO stamped on a reddish smooth body that narrows to an acrylic tapered stem: this is a cigar holder of 16 mm diameter, new old stock.
The open end of the holder carries metal rings, and the stem pulls out of the body on a metal fitting. An F letter logo sits on the stem; its meaning is not known.
Medico is the name S.M. Frank & Co put on its filter pipes. Sam Frank had been selling pipes since 1900, and in 1933 the firm launched the Medico brand together with an absorbent paper filter. In 1955 S.M. Frank also bought the Kaywoodie brands, and Medico pipes were sold in England through Cadogan and Oppenheimer Pipe. No date is given for this holder.
A cigar holder lets a cigar be smoked from a stem rather than from the cigar itself.
